The two teams will meet for the first time ever in the new league phase of the competition and the hosts will expect to make a strong start as they chase a record-extending 16th European crown.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men are unbeaten in all six competitive games they have played this season, but they are only third in the La Liga table, four points behind Barcelona.
Los Blancos won both their games either side of the international break 2-0, but they may struggle to keep Stuttgart at bay.

Mbappe has had his fair share of critics so far since his move to Madrid, but the former Paris Saint-Germain ace has scored three goals in five matches.
The Frenchman will spearhead Real’s attack on Tuesday and he should be in the spotlight from the outset. He has recorded 12 shots on target from 29 efforts in five games this season, and he will be at the heart of everything the hosts do.
Stuttgart ace Undav should also be able to test goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, having registered seven shots on target in three games at an average of 2.33/game.
Another man who could grab the headlines is Stuttgart defender Julian Chabot. The physical centre-back has been booked twice already in only five games this season. Chabot has averaged 2.4 tackles per game across those five matches but he will have to mark Mbappe on Tuesday night, so he will do well to avoid going into the referee’s book.
