New Chinese-invested hospital opens in BiH

SARAJEVO, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — A new joint-venture hospital with Chinese investment opened on Wednesday in Doboj, a city in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The hospital, named “Sveti Apostol Luka,” spans 28,000 square meters and offers 450 beds. It is expected to serve 330,000 people in Doboj and its surrounding areas.
Zeljka Cvijanovic, a member of the Presidency of BiH, said the government is committed to providing high-quality medical services to the local residents and the new hospital will further enhance medical conditions in the country.
Miao Dake, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in BiH, said that BiH’s active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative has enabled the implementation of several public welfare projects, including the new hospital. He also highlighted China’s commitment to sharing its advanced medical technology and expertise to benefit more partner countries.
The hospital was jointly built by China Sinopharm International Corporation, Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd. and local construction companies in BiH. It is one of the achievements of the eighth summit of heads of government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in 2019. ■
